Ciao a tutti!
We have been continuing our personal profiles this week, and
I have enjoyed learning more about the families and interests of all of the
students. The Prep – Grade 2s have been learning vocabulary to describe their
family and discussing how families come in all different shapes and sizes. The
Grade 3-6s have been learning how to talk about their interests and hobbies.
To practice Italian words for family members via the
activity that we did in class with the Prep-2s, click here: La mia famiglia (my family)
For activities to learn about how to talk about what you
like and don’t like, click here: Mi piace... (I like...)
Practice some Italian that we learnt this week at home with
your family! Here are some words and phrases to help you:
Mi piace… I like (it)… Non mi piace… I don’t like (it)…
Mi piacciono… I like (them)… Non mi piacciono… I
don’t like (them)…
e.g. Mi piace giocare a pallacanestro. I like to play basketball.
e.g. Mi piacciono i cani. I
like dogs.
La mia famiglia (My family)
madre mother (mum) padre father
(dad)
matrigna step-mother patrigno step-father
fratello brother sorella sister
nonno grandfather nonna grandmother
zio uncle zia aunty
cugino cousin (male) cugina cousin
(female)
We have also been singing and dancing along to the Italian
song from the 1980s called “Gioca Jouer”. Many students have also requested
that the Youtube clip for the song be posted on the blog so that they can sing
along at home. Teach your family the lyrics and dance moves, and sing along together at home! You can look at the picture below the video clip to remind you of the moves and lyrics.
